I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived among you without you knowing. But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am Number Four. I am next.

I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.
Nine of us came here, but sometimes I wonder if time has changed us—if we all still believe in our mission. How can I know? There are six of us left. We're hiding, blending in, avoiding contact with one another . . . but our Legacies are developing, and soon we'll be equipped to fight. Is John Number Four, and is his appearance the sign I've been waiting for? And what about Number Five and Six? Could one of them be the raven-haired girl with the stormy eyes from my dreams? The girl with powers that are beyond anything I could ever imagine? The girl who may be strong enough to bring the six of us together?
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They tried to catch Number Four in Ohio—and failed.
I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
And I'm ready to fight.

Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive.
Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others. . . .
I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others—including John.
But so are they.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They caught me in New York—but I escaped.
I am Number Six.
They want to finish what they started.
But they'll have to fight us first.

Hey there wonderful people! I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while but things have come up. Well, I'm back now with several awesome characters that I can't wait for you to meet! Mainly, they are Numbers 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9! Read these awesome books and learn more about these strange aliens who came to protect us from the Mogs. But first, let me show you some things to watch out for.
There is a lot of bad language in these books. Characters frequently swear and use crude words. There is a lot of violence and though described, none is extremely graphic. There are several elements I can't classify as either negative or positive - you'll have to decide for yourself.
Two main people fall in love and kiss...but go no further. Through the books, this couple remains fairly true, their relationship wavering but never failing and becoming stronger than ever at the end of The Rise of Nine. Personally, I see this relationship as a good thing because the boy side takes good care of the girl side as much as he can. They do kiss and aren't married. Does this bother you? Maybe. Does it bother me? Not really.
Boy 1 (I'm making up names to keep this clear) leaves his friend, Boy 2, behind in the hands of the Mogadorians. He (Boy 1) did it because Boy 1 was too weak to fight and couldn't have saved Boy 2 if he'd wanted to (and he did). Boy 1 is angry at himself later for leaving Boy 2. Did Boy 1 make a good choice? It's your decision.
Good things:
Once again, the relationship between two characters mentioned earlier could be put down here.
All of the Numbers are very protective of each other, even if they hate each other. They might be fighting each other one moment, but if an enemy attacks, they all work together to defeat a common foe. There are some strange family-like dynamics between all of the Numbers.
The Numbers (the Loric) are fighting to stop the Mogadorians who took over their planet. While the Numbers are really fighting for themselves, they do protect humans and Earth. Sometimes they take their anger out on humans but most of the time they treat us well. :)
I love these books. Unfortunately, the fourth one hasn't come out yet. Still, check out these books and let me know what you think in the comments!
Happy reading!
