Avalon High by Meg Cabot

Avalon High, I was starting to think, might not be so bad after all.
Maybe it's not where Ellie wants to be, but if you have to start at a new school, Avalon High is typical enough: There's Lance, the jock. Jennifer, the cheerleader. And Will, senior class president, quarterback, and all-around good guy.
But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be . . . not even, as Ellie is about to discover, herself. As a bizarre drama begins to unfold, Ellie has to wonder, what part does she play in all this? Do the coincidences she's piecing together really mean—as in King Arthur's court—that tragedy is fast approaching for her new friends?
Ellie doesn't know if she can do anything to stop the coming trouble. But somehow, she knows she has to try.  (www.amazon.com)

A fun chick-flick kinda book!  There are only a few things that I didn't like about the book, these things being:
One use of d---
One use of h---
Frequent uses of 'oh my g-d'
Pretty much the whole story is about reincarnation which is weird and kinda creepy but at the same time, it's sort of laughable.  It isn't presented as true so it isn't as though Cabot is trying to convince readers that reincarnation is real.  Personally, it didn't bother me.
Ellie skips school once for an arguably good reason. (it's a secret why she does it, shh!)
Will's stepbrother, Marco, is, er, interesting.  Also known as brutal and cruel.  He attempts murder twice but the book isn't graphic by any stretch.  It really sounds MUCH worse than it actually is!  Pinky promise!
On a much happier note, the girls will be happy to hear that Will, the hero of the story, is quite literally the perfect guy.  He's strong, tall, handsome, kind, caring, protective, smart, and he loves the heroine very much.  He always stands up for what's right and is such a strong leader, others follow in his footsteps.
Ellie is also sweet and caring.
I usually read suspenseful fantasy so this was a fun chicky break from routine.  I enjoyed it and might actually read it again (that doesn't happen often with me).  Still, I must add one thing.  Disney did a great thing when they made this book into a movie.  They added a much better twist to the story so that the story line was better overall.  The acting wasn't very good, but the story made up for it.  My suggestion?  Read the book, then watch the movie, NOT the other way around!
Happy reading!
